How Does the ZillionTV Service Work?

You access the ZillionTV Service via an innovative device that connects easily to both the TV set and home network, paired with an intuitive, motion-sensing remote. Once the ZillionTV™ Device is connected, a setup wizard automatically starts and guides you through the activation process. After that, you simply turn on the TV set, choose your programming and select whether you want to watch free ad-supported programming, rent the program, or buy it. Your choice of viewing options will vary depending on what options are offered by each content owner tied to each specific program. For example, some programs will be available to rent, purchase, or watch for free, while others will only be available to rent, and some only to purchase. Back to Top

Where Is the ZillionTV Service Available?

ZillionTV is currently in its pilot phase in multiple markets nationwide. We do have plans to expand internationally in the future. Back to Top

Can I Use the ZillionTV Service with My Existing TV Service?

Absolutely. As a stand-alone television distribution service, the ZillionTV Service does not interfere with cable or satellite TV services, or with over-the-air television reception. Back to Top

Will the ZillionTV Service Interfere with Other Internet Activities?

It depends on the speed of your Internet connection and the types of Internet activities occurring at the same time. Low-bandwidth activities like email and Web browsing shouldn’t be affected. However, downloading large files, streaming audio or video from the web, or playing multi-player online games can take up a lot of bandwidth, so you may find that your bandwidth is not sufficient for doing these activities while you are watching the ZillionTV Service. Back to Top

How Much Does the ZillionTV Service Cost?

The ZillionTV Service is completely subscription-free, and there is no cost for the ZillionTV™ Device or motion-sensing Z-Remote. You have the choice of enjoying your favorite programs for free simply by agreeing to watch ads. Prefer no ads? Then viewing each program simply requires payment of a per-program fee. Note that the viewing options for a particular program will depend on the options offered by each content owner tied to each specific program. For example, some programs will be available to rent, purchase or watch for free, while others will only be available to rent, and some only to purchase.  Back to Top

How Do I Pay for ZillionTV Programs?

You will be asked to provide a payment card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover) during registration. If you select an advertiser-supported program, there will be no charge for it on the ZillionTV Service.  When you choose to rent or buy a program, your card will be charged and you will receive a confirmation via email. The ZillionTV Service is meant to be enjoyed on your TV, using the Internet connection that was performance tested when you signed up. Because PCs, laptops, and mobile devices are not the best platforms for delivering and viewing high-quality TV entertainment, the ZillionTV Service is designed only for viewing on your TV in any room in your house that has Internet access. Back to Top

Once I Watch a Program on My ZillionTV Service, How Long Can I Access It?

That depends on whether you choose to rent, buy, or watch for free. If you buy a program, you can watch it on the ZillionTV Service any time, just by selecting it. If you rent a program, you are able to watch it for as many times as you like for a specified period of time. If you choose to watch for free, you’ll watch advertisements during the program. Your choice of viewing 'flavors' depends upon what options are offered by each content owner tied to each specific program. Back to Top

Can I Buy Movies or Only Rent Them?

Programs may have different purchase options available. If you buy a program, you can watch it on the ZillionTV Service any time. If you rent a program, you are granted a license to watch it for a period of time that is clearly specified on screen. Back to Top

What If I Don’t Want to Watch Any Commercials?

ZillionTV shifts control of TV advertising to you, the viewer. If you choose not to see any ads, you can instead pay a per-program fee. Back to Top

If you volunteer personal information while you visit our website (e.g., furnish us with your email address), we may use it to contact you and provide the information you requested of us. If you sign up for the ZillionTV Service, we will collect basic personal information and (optionally) your entertainment preferences to jump-start your personalized TV viewing experience. You will receive both general program and personalized recommendations that better match your specific interests. We will not sell, disclose, or share any personal information that we collect with third parties unless you have authorized us to do so, or we are required to do so to comply with laws, rules, and regulations. Do I Need Any Special Equipment to Use the ZillionTV Service?

You need a TV with access to a broadband connection to the Internet that is fast enough to support our high-quality video streams - 3 megabits per second or higher. The ZillionTV Device can connect to a TV using a composite, component, S-Video, or HDMI cable. If you have an older TV that doesn't have those connector types, you can buy an inexpensive adapter that lets you connect a composite cable. Your home network must be configured to provide access to multiple devices, either through a router, or via a broadband modem that functions as a router. Does the ZillionTV™ Device Have Storage?

No, ZillionTV eliminates the need to record and store programs on a hard drive because programs are streamed from ZillionTV servers to the ZillionTV Device in your home. Because the device has no hard drive, it is smaller, quieter and generates less heat than a set-top box with a hard drive. The ZillionTV Service also removes the fear of accidentally deleting any recorded programs since its program collection is always housed on the ZillionTV network. Back to Top

How Is the ZillionTV Device Different Than a Digital Video Recorder (DVR)?

The ZillionTV Service has DVR functionality built in, including fast-forward, pause, and rewind, but offers much more. The ZillionTV program library is available at any time, allowing you to watch what you want, when you want, with no pre-set viewing schedule to follow. And, with its program collection housed on the ZillionTV network, you don’t need to record and store programs on a hard drive, which removes the fear of losing any on-demand shows or missing a recording. Back to Top

How Do I Connect the ZillionTV Device to My Home Network?

You can easily connect to your home network using either a wired or wireless connection. For a wired connection, all you need is an Ethernet cable that reaches from your network router to the back of the ZillionTV Device. For a wireless connection, you need to know the name of your home network, and, if you have security enabled, the encryption method and the wireless password. What Internet Connection Speed is Required to Receive the ZillionTV Service?

The current minimum speed for your Internet connection is 3.0 megabits per second (Mbps). To sign up for ZillionTV Service, we provide a bandwidth speed test that ensures your Internet connection is fast enough to support streaming video. If your Internet connection is not fast enough, check with your Internet service provider (ISP) to see about upgrading your service. Back to Top

What Video Resolutions Does the ZillionTV Device Support?

The ZillionTV Device supports 480i and 480p standard-definition (SD) resolutions, as well as the following high-definition (HD) resolutions: 720p, 1080i, 1080p. To output the highest-definition resolutions (1080i or 1080p), an HDMI cable is required. Back to Top
